Baldwin Wallace University is sunsetting multiple programs and minors as it refocuses around areas with stronger demand, and it is also eliminating faculty positions tied to the restructuring. President Lee Fisher said the university will wind down 16 degree programs and 19 minors, while discontinuing 10 faculty positions (about 2.5% of its full-time workforce). The announcement follows an internal academic review process that began in January and was framed as reallocating capacity toward programs with growing interest, strong workforce demand, and financial sustainability. The affected portfolio includes several low-enrollment offerings, including undergraduate economics, music theory, sustainability, physics, and community health education promotion, alongside graduate cuts such as education programs. Fisher emphasized that students in affected programs can complete their studies at Baldwin Wallace and that some courses will continue through other programs within the broader curriculum. The restructuring underscores how private institutions are using portfolio management and staffing reductions to address budget pressures and align academic offerings with perceived market demand outcomes.
