University of Valley Forge in Pennsylvania will close indefinitely after its board concluded the institution “could not continue academic operations responsibly.” The decision follows years of financial stress and intensifying accreditation scrutiny, including a June order from its accreditor to provide evidence of sufficient financial resources to meet standards. UVF told students it has no plans to resume operations and will keep only essential staff to support teach-out and protect academic records. The university said it would identify potential teach-out partners, listing Messiah University and Eastern University in Pennsylvania and Southeastern University in Florida. UVF reported 589 students enrolled in fall 2024. The closure adds to a recent pattern of religious and smaller private colleges shutting down amid enrollment and revenue pressure, raising operational risks for students, faculty, and downstream partners responsible for records retention and teach-out arrangements.
