Mary Baldwin University received a probation for good cause sanction from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, citing insufficient progress on compliance with the accreditor’s financial responsibility standard. The action puts the institution at risk of losing accreditation, though the disclosure notice says student degree status, enrollment, and financial aid are unaffected. SACS continued accreditation after the university provided evidence it would remedy compliance issues within the next year. A board review is scheduled for next June, and President Todd Telemeco said Mary Baldwin has implemented spending controls, reorganized operations, strengthened fundraising, and invested in new revenue-generating programs. The case also involves a leadership transition: Telemeco said he would resign and Gary Daynes began as president on July 1.
