Georgia’s direct-admissions system is beginning to send out letters of provisional admission to high school students, with the state reporting that more than 130,000 Georgia seniors will receive offers for 2027 freshman classes even if they never applied. Built on academic performance data through 11th grade, Georgia Match reverses the traditional application model by letting state colleges pre-apply to students. The Georgia Student Finance Commission helped launch the program in 2023, and state organizers say the approach reduces administrative and financial friction for students and encourages consideration of in-state options. The Education Commission of the States recognized Georgia’s program on July 9 with its Frank Newman Award for State Innovation.
