KPMG moved to operationalize generative AI at scale by announcing a global alliance with Anthropic to embed Claude into its Digital Gateway client-delivery platform. The deployment gives KPMG’s roughly 276,000-person workforce access to Claude across 138 countries, positioning the firm to apply the model directly to auditing, advising, deal structuring, and tax preparation workflows. The firm also extended the commitment beyond consulting delivery, naming itself Anthropic’s preferred partner for private equity deployments. That signals KPMG’s intent to help PE firms operationalize AI inside portfolio companies rather than limiting adoption to client advisory. Outside observers have questioned whether that approach risks “disintermediation,” while others argue the integration reflects a shift from experimentation to delivery. The reaction matters for higher-ed operators too, since campus vendors and contractors are increasingly adopting similar “model in the workflow” strategies for compliance and analytics.
