Learning‑management vendors and campus leaders are confronting a blunt reality: current tools cannot reliably detect agentic AI, and institutions are adopting AI unevenly without clear governance. Blackboard executives acknowledged that agentic AI agents evade detection, prompting calls to redesign assessment and move from policing to academic design changes. At the same time, surveys show institutional AI adoption jumped to two‑thirds of campuses in 2025, but only 43% include AI in strategic plans and many cite data privacy and training gaps. The result: campuses are deploying AI tools while struggling to provide faculty training, coherent governance, and assessment models that preserve learning integrity.
