Old Dominion University launched an AI incubator, MonarchSphere, to operationalize AI literacy through a structured partnership model with students, faculty, and industry. Using the spotlight of National AI Literacy Day, ODU rolled out the initiative with Google Public Sector, positioning MonarchSphere as an applied learning pathway connecting participants to real-world use cases. The coverage frames MonarchSphere as more than training materials, emphasizing an “incubator” approach designed to link curricula and faculty expertise to industry-defined problems that can be piloted through student work. The rollout adds to a growing set of higher-ed initiatives that treat AI literacy as an institutional capacity building effort rather than a standalone workshop, aiming to accelerate student preparedness for AI-enabled workplaces.
