Artemis, a new cybersecurity startup, emerged from stealth after securing $70 million in venture funding aimed at countering AI-powered attacks using AI-driven defense. The Series A was led by Felicis, with returning investors First Round Capital and Brightmind, and participation from major cybersecurity and cloud-security leaders. Artemis says it continuously monitors enterprise activity—such as logins and cloud behavior—to learn what “normal” looks like, then detects anomalies and connects events into a clear account of an attack’s progression. The company also claims it can automatically contain incidents, such as locking compromised accounts. For higher education institutions, the development matters because campus IT environments increasingly face AI-accelerated threats and because centralized detection and rapid containment are becoming core procurement questions for cybersecurity teams.
