CHEA announced it is establishing an advisory Council of Experts on Quality Assurance and Accreditation to bring scholars and practitioners into more structured engagement on emerging issues. The council will focus on student outcomes and value, assessment and institutional effectiveness, innovation in teaching and learning, and the growing role of AI in higher education. CHEA said the group will contribute to convenings, publications, and strategic initiatives while informing public trust and accreditation dialogue. The council will be chaired by Dr. Stephen P. Hundley of Indiana University Indianapolis and will include 11 members from across higher education. For accreditation and quality leaders, the initiative signals an organized effort to update evaluation and evidence standards as institutions face AI-driven assessment challenges and evolving expectations for student success.
