Cornell University struck a settlement with the Trump administration to end federal investigations and recover suspended research money. The university agreed to pay $60 million—$30 million directly and $30 million for agriculture research—and to provide expanded undergraduate admissions data and use DOJ guidance on diversity training as part of compliance reporting, President Michael Kotlikoff said. The agreement reopens more than $250 million in federal grants and ends probes by the DOJ, Education and HHS. Universities negotiating with federal agencies should expect tighter reporting conditions tied to restored funding.
