The department said the incident did not include bank details or other highly sensitive information and that the breach was contained quickly. DfE reported that the Turing Scheme portal and the department’s online help desk were affected, with expectations that normal operation would resume later in the week. The department referred the matter to the Information Commissioner’s Office and said it is working with the National Cyber Security Centre and the National Crime Agency.
