Emory University named Sabyasachi “Saby” Mitra as the next John H. Harland Dean of the Goizueta Business School, ending a search Provost Badia Ahad launched in February. Mitra, currently dean of Florida Warrington College of Business since 2020, will begin Aug. 1. He succeeds Gareth James, who is departing for UCLA’s Anderson School of Management this summer. Emory’s announcement said Mitra brings both research credentials and institutional growth experience, including Warrington’s repositioning around AI and analytics education, expansion of online graduate programs, and new locations in Miami and Jacksonville. Mitra’s appointment also closes a cycle of portfolio changes at Goizueta under James, including three new degree programs and two new centers, alongside a 35% enrollment increase.
