University of Valley Forge announced it will shutter after its summer semester ends, citing financial distress and warning signs from its accreditor. The Pennsylvania Christian college said it could not continue “academic operations responsibly,” and it named teach-out partners including Eastern University, Messiah University, and Southeastern University. The closure follows a Middle States Commission on Higher Education threat to strip accreditation by Sept. 1 unless the school proved it remained compliant with financial regulations. Enrollment has fallen by half since 2007, with fewer than 500 students full-time in its latest report. For students, the institution said it will keep staffing for records and transition support and will preserve ongoing institutional assets. The announcement underscores how small faith-based institutions continue to be vulnerable when revenue declines outpace turnaround plans.
