Johns Hopkins University announced a sweeping financial-aid revision that eliminates tuition, fees and living expenses for Homewood undergraduates from families earning under $100,000; families up to $200,000 will pay no tuition. The policy takes effect for current eligible students in spring 2026 and for new entrants in fall 2026. President Ron Daniels credited major philanthropic support—including Michael Bloomberg’s 2018 $1.8 billion gift—and a sustained internal aid investment for enabling the change. The move joins a growing list of selective private institutions expanding middle-class aid and will affect recruiting, yield and the university’s socioeconomic mix.
