Labouré College of Healthcare announced it will cease operations in August after citing persistent financial, enrollment and regulatory challenges. Curry College has agreed—pending approvals—to absorb Labouré’s nursing program and create a Labouré Center for Advancing Healthcare Opportunity on its campus. Labouré President Lily Hsu said the deal aims to preserve students’ progress and the college’s legacy; Curry plans to hire roughly 15 Labouré nursing faculty and about 20 staffers to maintain curriculum continuity. Labouré also pledged its endowment to the new nursing center after legal and regulatory approvals. The closure underscores ongoing financial strain among small, specialized institutions that serve adult and workforce-aligned students and raises transfer, accreditation and state-licensure issues for displaced students in other health programs.
