Michigan lawmakers advanced a proposal that would cut operational funding by more than 60% for Michigan State University and the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor, based on a legislative analysis of a measure approved by the Republican-led House. The bill would reduce MSU funding by about $208.9 million and UM–Ann Arbor by about $233.4 million.
