North Idaho College is rolling out the NIC Guarantee, promising applied science graduates “prepared for entry-level employment in their field of study in Idaho,” or else receiving additional career-preparation services at no cost. For eligible graduates starting with the Class of 2028, the college will provide job-placement assistance, career coaching, employer referrals, and up to nine additional units in workforce training programs if they are not employed within six months of receiving their associate of applied science. The guarantee also extends to credit for relevant experience (including trade work, military service, or industry certifications) and a separate promise that eligible AA/AS graduates will meet transfer requirements to partner institutions. For workforce-facing colleges, the NIC model adds a measurable outcome commitment—raising expectations from students and employers around employability and rapid skills alignment.
