LinkedIn added a “Seems like AI slop” button to help users flag low-quality posts and announced tools to reduce overreliance on AI-generated content. The change arrives alongside an update that removed the “enhance your post” feature, replacing it with proofreading that preserves user voice. LinkedIn chief product officer Hari Srinivasan said the platform detects and blocks hundreds of thousands of automated slop comment attempts daily and prevented billions of automation attempts in recent months. The company also expanded bot detection and positioned the new labeling tool as a way to tune feed quality. In higher education contexts, the update reinforces a familiar challenge for faculty, students, and administrators: verifying authenticity in communications and reducing reputational and assessment risk tied to synthetic content in informal and professional channels.
