Oregon State University Cascades removed Chancellor and Dean Sherman Bloomer and placed the matter under an investigation after a complaint prompted an inquiry involving OSU’s Office of Audit Risk and Compliance, according to Central Oregon Daily News. OSU provost and executive vice president Roy Haggerty told the campus community that an outside team is conducting the investigation and that details of the complaint have not been made public. Haggerty said the university is proceeding deliberately to preserve due process, including interviews and evidence collection. The leadership change signals an immediate shift in day-to-day governance while OSU works through uncertainty tied to the allegations, and it also underscores how quickly campus operating structures can change once an internal investigation begins. OSU named Becky Johnson, previously a chancellor, as interim chancellor and dean for the Cascades campus.
