Two small private colleges announced closures this week after years of financial strain. Providence Christian College said its board will shut the campus at the end of the 2025–26 year, citing accreditation problems, enrollment shortfalls and lost federal funds. Lourdes University likewise will close in May after expansion of athletics failed to stabilize enrollment and scholarship spending created unsustainable deficits. Boards and accreditors are now managing teach‑out logistics and credit transfers for displaced students.
