Georgia’s direct admissions system, Georgia Match, is sending letters to eligible high school seniors with provisional admissions to dozens of in-state public and private colleges and universities, even when students have not submitted traditional applications. The state says more than 130,000 seniors will receive placement offers for the 2027 freshman class. Georgia, along with at least 18 other states, uses student performance data through 11th grade to automate the admissions workflow—shifting “application” into an enrollment decision and aiming to reduce logistical and financial barriers. Georgia Student Finance Commission officials described the program as a way to make students aware they are already admitted to many options. Policy analysts say these efforts are being paired with earlier career planning and stronger K–12–to–workforce alignment. The Education Commission of the States recognized Georgia Match with its Frank Newman Award for State Innovation on July 9.
