Student governance funding crisis: Black student council loses university support, church steps in

A Baptist church is funding the University of Missouri’s Legion of Black Collegians after the university moved to cut designated annual support for the Black student council and other minority affinity groups. Mizzou leaders said the cuts began in July in response to a U.S. Department of Justice memo restricting DEI efforts, prompting the church to help the group create a 501(c)(3) to receive funds.
