The University of Michigan’s Healthy Minds Study reported a third consecutive year of declining rates of depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation among U.S. college students. Surveying over 84,000 students across 135 institutions, the study found moderate-to-severe depression symptoms decreased from 23% in 2022 to 18% in 2025, with similar improvements in anxiety and suicidal thoughts. The trends suggest positive shifts in student mental health within higher education environments.
