Spring enrollment rose modestly—up 1% year over year—while graduate enrollment remained under pressure, according to National Student Clearinghouse Research Center data. Undergraduate gains were concentrated in community colleges and public four-year institutions. The data show spring undergraduate enrollment increasing to 15.5 million, with community college growth of 3.1% and public four-year growth of 1.5%. Certificate programs posted the fastest growth (+10.2%), while declines were reported in computer and information sciences. At the graduate level, enrollment slipped 0.1% to about 3.1 million, driven by declines in master’s programs and international graduate students, suggesting demand at the grad tier is not sharing the undergraduate momentum.
