A new national survey of student‑success administrators finds leaders broadly confident that student success is prioritized on campus, but reveals persistent gaps in data use, AI literacy and transparency around costs. While 61% of leaders say their institutions prioritize student success, only about a third report effective use of student‑success data to guide decisions. The survey flagged weak adoption of high‑impact practices and experiential learning; nearly all leaders support the quality of undergraduate education, but most want stronger employer partnerships and internship pipelines. Crucially, just 2% said their institutions were highly effective at educating students on ethical and practical uses of generative AI for coursework. Student‑success executives warned that federal policy shifts, affordability pressures and constraints on DEI programming are affecting campus climates and international enrollment. The findings point to a need for investment in data infrastructure, consistent pedagogy reforms and targeted professional development on AI and cost transparency.
