Philanthropist MacKenzie Scott has donated $70 million to the United Negro College Fund, aiming to significantly strengthen the financial foundations of 37 member historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). This contribution supports UNCF’s larger $1 billion capital campaign intended to create pooled endowments with sustainable annual distributions. UNCF president Michael L. Lomax described the gift as a powerful confidence vote and a generational opportunity to enhance student support and campus resources across member institutions.
