The University of Liverpool appointed Professor Richard Grose as provost of its new Bengaluru campus as the Russell Group institution prepares to admit its first cohort in August. Grose, formerly at Queen Mary University of London and a Barts Cancer Institute leader, will oversee academic leadership, governance and the launch of UK‑accredited degrees in computer science, business, biomedical sciences and creative disciplines. Liverpool received approval from India’s Ministry of Education and joins a small but growing group of UK research universities establishing branch campuses in India. University leaders framed the campus as part of a broader strategic push to deepen teaching and research collaboration with India’s fast-growing knowledge economy and to offer transnational education aligned to local demand. Officials said the campus will deliver teaching, research partnerships and knowledge exchange while maintaining academic standards comparable to the UK home campus; the appointment of an experienced provost is intended to reassure faculty and regulators as recruitment and academic planning accelerate.
